We are glad to announce our installer for RK Launcher 0.41 Leopard Inspired is now ready for download. There is a lot of work in this simple application which we have only skinned and enlarged to make it even more user friendly. RK Launcher is a free application that will allow the user to have a visually pleasing bar at the side of the screen that is used to quickly launch shortcuts. With support for themes, PNG's and ICO's and with smooth amazing animations, RK Launcher is a versatile and great taskbar replacement.

It's Rich in Features!

Zooming

When the mouse is moved over the dock, all the icons will automatically grow: this is called zooming. The advantage of zooming is that the user will be able to have a very small strip of shortcuts that virtually take no precious screenspace. Only when interaction with RK Launcher is required, the shortcutbar will automatically zoom in to allow the user to pick the icon he wants.[/font]

Taskbar

Minimized windows will normally be shown on the Windows Taskbar. RK Launcher provides an eye-pleasing replacement for the taskbar: whenever a window is minimized, it will automatically be placed on the shortcutsbar and will be represented by a small image of the contents of this window. This way, the user will quickly see which windows are minimized.

New Applications

It's always hard to track newly installed applications: where did they go? To solve this problem, RK Launcher will automatically place a shortcut on the launcher when an application is started for the first time.

Customization

All parts of RK Launcher can be fully customized. From the number of icons that gets zoomed on mouseover to the background and icons; the user can set it all as he likes. With support for themes, users can exchange their favourite looks and change the look of the launcher with one click.

Which old RK? The first installer we compiled some time ago or the default RKLauncher from http://home.cogeco.ca/~rklauncher?

You can delete that one if you want. This installer installs RK under "%ProgramFiles%\RK Launcher\RK Launcher 0.41 Beta Nightly\" so your old RK Launcher shouldn't be overwritten with the new installation (I haven't tried that though)

Hey, thanks for your comment, I really appreciate it! In more than 600 downloads of the Vista installer and @800 of the XP one (in only 2 days) you are one of the few guests that took some time to register and post here.

It is sad when we give the installer as a free download and we don't force guests to get registered to be able to get them and many of them don't even take 2 minutes to register an account... But that's not your case so I hope to see you around more often (IMG:http://windowsedge.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Hi out there. Thanks a lot for the great dock - tried it and looks perfect for me.
Small question. The installer (I have XP here) suggests the "C:\Program Files" installation dir without letting me to correct it to my "D:..." - the "browse" button is inactive and the field is disabled. Any hint how I can change the installation directory?

Thanks again for the pleasure I got playing with your dock!

Hi Alexey, welcome aboard (IMG:http://windowsedge.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Some people already asked me not to force the installer path but I really have no options until I make it work without problem. The thing is that the STACKS emulation will not work if it is not installed under the specified directory. Yeah, I know this may be inconvenient for some users, specially for those with the OS in other Drive but C:

I haven't been able to get the STACKS simulator (kkmenu) to work when I change the path... Anyways, as soon as I get it to work there will be a new release (IMG:http://windowsedge.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

Cheers mate

Hi Yoni, THANKS for this very nice release supported by Radu King. The "Add Docklets" is inactive, but there is possible to edit the itemlist.conf file according to the lines coresponding to the "Stacks" included. Anyway, as I have observed with the genuine version of RKlauncher 0.41 Beta 281, adding more than one KKMenu works fine but at launch RKLauncher.dll reports that "Class already exists". Perhaps someone will find a solution to avoid those annoying messages for each KKMenu included in the dock. I have the original sounds mentioned in the KKMenu.cfg, should I upload them to complete the package?
This dock is the best I used (under win platforms) and most alike to the native dock in OSX.
I don't know how happened, but editing the itemlist.conf and kkmenu.cfg made active the "Add Docklets" button.
Anyway, again thank you.

I was trying to change the stacks icon on the dock, and it glitched out and now it's just a blank icon where stacks used to be (IMG:http://windowsedge.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

I have tried uninstalling it and reinstalling, but the preferences seem to be persistently saved, anyone know how I can fix this?

Other than that, great job with this!! Very great!

Spyro94, insert these lines in the itemlist.conf file (take care RKLauncher should be stoped to edit this file) and you will have the original settings of the Stacks.

[RKDockItem]
type = docklet_od
name = kkmenu
show = normal
path = KkMenu/kkmenu.dll
loaded = 1
label = Stacks
configIniFile = dockletstemp.ini
configIniGroup = DockletOD
KkIsTray = 0
KkTrayIconSpace = 4
KkTrayIconMaxSize = 32
KkMenuIconFileName = C:\Program Files\RK Launcher\RK Launcher 0.41 Beta Nightly\icons\stacks.png
KkTrayIconBorderLeft = 8
KkTrayIconBorderTop = 8
KkTrayIconBorderRight = 8
KkTrayIconBorderBottom = 8
KkMenuIndex = 0
Title = Stacks

You should leave a free line after each [RKDockItem].

Yes, no problem, but uploading here is somehow difficult for me. You can download the file from here http://www.filefactory.com/file/28977c/. It is not the original, but has only few and unchecking the option in Settings/Behavior "Locked add/delete/drag" will let you to complete with your favorite applications.

Yoni, the theme Leopard of the Stacks for the KKMenu has a big inconvenience - the lenght of the colored line is limited, so a long name is partialy presented on black area and the rest outside. (IMG:http://windowsedge.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)
The Vista Theme for KKMenu shows a menu as wide as the longer title is in that menu. (IMG:http://windowsedge.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

Well it can't be perfect but you can edit that. I believe there is no possible way to make it re-sizable because that's just an image (IMG:http://windowsedge.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)
Maybe you wanna photoshop a custom bar (wider one) to meet your needs... (IMG:http://windowsedge.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Hey I don't know how but I missed this line in your post. Yeah it would be great if you upload the sounds. We could re-compile a new installer with them included.

I added a new KKmenu to my RKLauncher (testing). It does work but I need to figure out how to prevent it from popping up the little error message. We have been busy with the Icon Pack and the .dlls... Nick has been working really hard in that package (currently building an installer so users don't have to deal with manual replacement...
