In September, Amazon.com said Linux-based netbooks were among the top-selling laptops. During the month of August, 12 of the best-selling netbooks were based on Linux, six supported Windows XP and two supported Vista.

Well it was bound to happen, but it looks like Google is going to be the first search company to introduce a form of speech recognition for audio to allow for faster searches. This will not only allow for faster searches for audio and video clips but, faster searches through the actual clips themselves.
This little piece of technology was quietly launched by Google and has been dubbed GAUdi by the ad giant. As of right now it is limited to political speeches found on YouTube but should gradually become more widespread.

I highly doubt this will happen. They have not even gotten to alpha stage yet. That is a tall order to fill when they are not even close to even asking for Beta Testers.

Not to mention that MS likes to publicly launch OS' at the begining of the fiscal year (October- November) or at CES.

There have been more than a few rumors in the press lately about nVidia getting out of the chipset business. Most of these revolve around the poor reception of the 790i by OEMs (many of whom are pulling boards based on this chipset). Some claim that nVidia is not killing it off but rolling it into the recently started SOC (system on chip) division. But while all of these are going on we hear rumblings that Apple is looking to drop a green chipset in their future systems.
What if between these two rumors there is a third possibility?
I have been looking over the rumors and the very small number of real facts that are out there and I have arrived at a rather wild conclusion:
I think that Apple is getting ready to buy a slimmed down version of the nVidia chipset division.

There are many OEMs that are pushing for a recall of laptops (mobile GPUs) in addition to the desktop parts.
nVidia is now faced with loosing millions on a recal or more in class action suits.
The problem is that nVidia knew about this defect over a year ago and did nothing, this puts them in a VERY bad position.

The Register is reporting that Rockstar has released news that GTA IV is finally coming to the PC!

Although many of our members would have already completed the game on their consoles, I'm sure I'm not the only one that won't buy the game until it comes out on the PC - and now it's definitely coming!

The Register names the release dates as the 18th of November for the US and the 21st of November in the UK, perfect timing for Christmas.

Of course they are ging to deny it
They have nVision in a few days.
can you imagine what dropping their chipset line would do to that?
They want nVision to become the next E3.

Also where is the mention of the Data Corruption with the 790i? the memory that burned up on the 680i
the issues with the 590 SLI
They have not made a chipset for AMD since the 590 SLI and that was two years ago. They have nothing for AMD's current line up.
Plus there ARE many OEMs that are pulling the 790 series completely.

Adobe® Reader® 9 software adds much new functionality, especially relating to collaboration, PDF file creation, security, and an enhanced user experience.
Improved launch speeds

Looking for faster launch speeds? Adobe has enhanced general performance and, in particular, has reduced launch times with Adobe Reader 9. Try it: You'll notice the difference.
PDF Portfolios

Packages, introduced in Adobe Reader 8, have been greatly enhanced and renamed. Portfolios provide easy navigation when you work with multiple PDF documents and other document types. They also enable you to work with a collection of materials such as drawings, e-mail messages, spreadsheets, and videos as a single file, which makes distribution, storage, retrieval, and collaboration easy for end users.
Native Adobe Flash® support

Adobe Reader 9 can natively display rich media content, which you'll notice immediately with Portfolios. Interested in viewing SWF and FLV files? Adobe Reader 9 is the answer.
Acrobat.com (beta)

Included with Adobe Reader 9 is Acrobat.com (beta), an exciting new set of online services from Adobe. With Acrobat.com, you can create PDF files online; create and coauthor documents with others; host live web meetings; upload and share PDF files and other types of documents and control who has access to them; and even embed a rich, interactive preview of your document in a web page. All of these services and more are provided online, so you can access them from anywhere. And you'll find easy access points from within Reader 9. As an added convenience, Acrobat.com leverages Adobe AIR™, so you can interact with Acrobat.com from your desktop. Acrobat.com on Adobe AIR is a small application that is included with your download of Adobe Reader 9. Available in select languages. Learn more
Improved CAD and geospatial functionality

CAD and geospatial functionality have been greatly enhanced in Adobe Reader 9. For instance, CAD designs or geospatial maps that have been converted to PDF offer Adobe Reader users access to CAD features, such as dimensions, or map features, such as longitude and latitude, for powerful collaboration and interaction.
PDF Standards Pane

When a PDF/A or PDF/X standard compliant file is opened, a Standards Pane appears and provides important file details.
Security enhancements

Adobe Reader 9 provides new digital signature functionality for an improved user experience. The new version also adds support for 256-bit AES encryption.
Accessibility enhancements

Adobe Reader 9 significantly improves the viewing of XFA forms for accessibility, while providing greater screen reader support.
Adobe Reader 9 MUI

Adobe Reader 9 MUI is Adobe's Multilingual User Interface version. This product is capable of installing any combination of supported languages. So, for example, you can install French, German, and Spanish simultaneously and then have the capability to switch among those languages within Adobe Reader. The user interface changes to the appropriate language on the fly.

Looks very interesting. Apparently it rocks in the UT3 level where Physx is enabled. They are using CUDA to leverage the Physx API and that results in quite a nice performance boost. I wonder if this is going to usher in a newer more exciting era of more physics in games!
